D.O.R.S. Community Services Board of Directors

Mr. Michael Purifoy, Board Chairman, is Senior Vice President and Business Banking Manager for Citizens National Bank.  Michael is an active member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church where he serves as a deacon and young adult Sunday School teacher. He also serves on the boards of the Longview Police Academy, is a member of the IRB Committee at LeTourneau University and a Division Chair for the Greater Longview United Way. Additionally, Michael served as the Chair of the LETU Scholarship Golf Classic, was board chair of The Crisman School and was on the President’s Advisory Council of LeTourneau University.

Ms. Kristen Ishihara, 1st Vice Chairman, has a BA from Western Michigan University and a JD from Baylor Law School. She is an attorney at Ross Shoalmire Firm, LLP. Kristen is involved with a number of charitable organizations including East Texas CASA, the Junior League of Longview and the Zonta Club of Longview and serves on the Longview City Council.

Mr. Kevin Zilka, 2nd Vice Chairman, is a practicing attorney and currently practices intellectual property law with the Zilka-Kotab PC law firm in San Jose, CA. Mr. Zilka is also active in a variety of businesses involving both intellectual as well as real property. Mr. Zilka is interested in helping meet the rudimentary needs (e.g. food, clothing, shelter, etc.) of our country’s poorest.

Mr. Andrew Gordon, Board Treasurer, holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, MBA and Juris Doctor. He works as a patent attorney. Mr. Gordon is actively involved in his church and community, serving on several board positions at his church and as Cubmaster for a local BSA pack.

Ms. April Barker, Development Officer, has a BS in Marketing from LeTourneau University and is pursuing her MS in Human Resource Development from the University of Texas at Tyler. She works for KSA Engineers. April’s passion and interest lies in helping disadvantaged youth become self-sufficient. April serves as the Secretary for the Rotary Club of Longview Midtown and is involved with Junior League of Longview and East Texas CASA’s Getting Together Safely Program.

Mr. Carson Runge has a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Texas Tech University and a JD from Baylor University School of Law. He is a partner at Sloan, Hatcher, Perry, Runge, Robertson & Smith Law Firm where he practices catastrophic personal injury law. Mr. Runge and his wife, Kelsey, came to Longview in 2010. He is passionate about helping young adults overcome economic disadvantages so that they have the opportunity to fulfill their dreams.

Mr. Michael A. Benefield, Finance Committee Chair, has a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and a law degree from Indiana University. He is an attorney and financial advisor. Mr. Benefield is interested in helping underprivileged young people become productive citizens. 

Mr. James Brewer is the principal of Longview High School. James knows that many of his students fall into at-risk categories including homelessness and believes that his role on this board can play an active role in helping local young people have an optimistic future. He holds a degree and serves on the alumni board at Southern Arkansas University.

Mr. Brandt Thorson has a BA and JD from Texas Tech University. Brandt is an attorney in private practice in Longview Texas specializing in criminal defense. He has lived in Longview since 2004 and knows the value that DORS provides to the population it serves.

Ms. Katy Manck, Event Committee Chair, is President of the International Association of School Librarianship, an independent book reviewer, elder at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church and former academic/corporate/school librarian serving most recently at Gilmer High School where she met many at-risk youth. She is an honor graduate of Austin College and holds the Master of Library Science with School Library Media Specialist Certification from the University of North Texas.

Ms. Candis Jones is the Assistant City Secretary for the City of Longview. She is an active member of ARMA International, Texas Municipal Clerks Association, a Public Notary and serves on the City of Longview Employee Benefits & United Way Kickoff Committee. She’s degreed and pursuing her TMCA certification. Candis has a passion for helping young people direct their personal desire to grow professionally, spiritually and emotionally.

Dr. Stanley Williams is Managing Director of Integrated Health at Community HealthCore. He is an adjunct professor at UT Tyler and East Texas Baptist University teaching psychology courses. He has a PhD in psychology, MS in counseling and BS in health care management. He has done mission work in Haiti and has worked on Rites of Passage for youth as well as fatherhood initiatives for teenage males. He is an active member of Grace Creek Church.

Regina Mixon is a Personal Banker for BancorpSouth in Longview. She has called Longview home for almost 10 years. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband Robert Mixon and adorable little boy. She has a heart for people and has served the community in various ways.
